The Totana 1578 video game project is an innovative tool for bringing Totana's local culture closer to the public through a contemporary, interactive format that is particularly attractive to younger generations. Although the characters, the narrative representation of the settings and the events that appear in the video game belong to a fictional universe and should not be interpreted as a historical reconstruction of Totana, the project creates a meaningful connection with the municipality and with certain elements of its historical and cultural context. In this way, fiction becomes a means of awakening curiosity and encouraging people to learn more about Totana's history, heritage and identity through new forms of cultural language and communication.
One of the project's principal strengths is its capacity to broaden the audience for culture, particularly by reaching people who would be unlikely to engage with it through traditional channels.
